Best year truck for front end donation?
what year truck you guys think is best to get a front suspension off of?
It is what, 1973 to 1982 isn't it that will fit. I know i read that the later models had a better steering ratio right? I;m going to be selling a camaro i have to fund the front end rebuild of my truck, then i started thinking i should just do a later model swap. Would like the buy what ever year would be best so i can get it all from one doner. And it should be fine to bolt my trucks frontend onto the doner truck right? so it can roll around and i can get rid of it easier when i'm done with it. or maybe just sell it to someone here if someone would need it. Also i have seen on the board about using a later model master cylinder. I have a picture saved of a blue truck saved from here with a later MC on it and was said to be from an 85 model i think and not using a booster. I would like to go this route. Any one have an actual part number for such a thing. are there power and non power MC's for those mid 80's year models? Any specific info on this would be cool. thanks |

Depends, what are you trying to do??? If your truck is a 72 you should already have disk brakes and possibly power brakes. Also, why would you want to put on a non-power MC after swapping suspensions? 2wd or 4wd? Need some more info. If all your wanting is to put a 73 to whatever steering box on your 72 with disks, you don't need to swap the whole suspension.

my p/o took the booster out of the 72 because he didn't have enough vacuum to run it. yes it has disks, and he gave us the old booster back, but in my case, my parting 77 has a nicer one, so we'll swap it out. i'm asking more towards the front end. will everything bolt up. mainly concerned about control arms, crossmember, and steering.
