EBAY Shipping/Damage Tip
Here's a little tip on preventing shipping damage costs...Don't buy breakable items that the seller doesn't offer insurance on!!! You don't have to ask me how I know.
Consoles are a great example. I got one that had NO packing, i.e. no protection and the box was almost smaller than the console. No insurance offered...I am out/not the seller! I forced him to refund some, but can't avoid partial loss. I just passed on another nice (he says) one on Ebay because he won't offer insurance, and I would gladly pay for it. Beware! |

What kind of seller doesn't offer insurance for an additional cost? I'd definitely stay away from this situation. Why don't you post a link to the console.

I can tell you also first hand that as a seller/buyer that even when you buy insurance as a buyer the seller has to be the one to file the claim. The buyer cannot handle a claim until the seller signs a written notice and sends it to the shipping company. Its a long process that most of the time can be prevented if the items are packed right. I do offer insurance with everything I sell but I cannot take any blame for damage due to the handling process. I had to file 2 claims over $600 each with fedex in 2 weeks. PITA!!!

Sounds like I would stay away from anyone who doesn't offer insurance. Could be a scam. They have some broken piece of crap and sell it as nice condition. Then when you get it they claim it was damaged in shipping.
But on the flip side I have seen some very well packaged items destroyed by the USPS. Aaron
