LS-1 in a 49 GMC

Anybody with information, advise, recommendations on installing an LS-1 with a 4L-60E in an advanced 49 GMC 1/2 ton PU? Any issues with firewall clearance, engine mounts, headers, stearing column. I was thinking of using a Griffin radiator, but someone told me the chevy and GMC radiators are different and not avalible from Griffin for the LS-1 for the advanced design trucks. What about Walker, Be-cool etc. I need all the help I can get.

Nice truck! Did you use a new firewall, if so, 3 or 4 inch recess (*****en vs direct sheet metal)? What about motor mount types, and steering column type with linkage to the trans? Whats the best radiator fan with enough CFM to do the job? I want it as quiet as possible.

I built my own firewall. Weld in motor mount from TCI. Bolt in tranny mount from TCI. I used a column out of an 89 Astro Van with a Lokar linkage. 2700 CFM Coolmate fan from Walker radiators is more than enough.
