14 bolt dilemma

Hey guys!

I finally managed to build up the courage to open the rear diff on my 80's new 4x4 frame to see what kind of a locking rear diff it has. To my great dissapointment, I found a Gov Loc looking back at me I recently pulled the diff off my 76, and found it was a locked diff as well. I figured I had scored an old posi diff for my truck, but upon opening it up, I found another gov lock DOH!

I've got a third diff with an open carrier, and I am wondering what I should do. I personally hate gov lock with a passion, it was a good idea, but was simply made far too weak. Should I just move the gear set from my current 4.10 gov lock diff into the open carrier, and put a detroit in, or what? I'm really worried that I'll break that gov lock knowing how I drive my truck in the winter (lots of sliding around, occasionally catching traction with one wheel)

Detroit all the way. I put one in my Ford 9 and have no regrets. I love it, if you give it just the right amount of gas around a corner it acts like a spool. Plus no clutches to wear out either.
