Exclamation WTB a 4 or 5 spd

I'm looking to save gas money and i was told to look to y'all for a 3 spd w/ 4 o'd or a good 5 speed,

I've got a 350 in a 68 not real worried about length of tail or any of the such, may not even need the bell as the one i have my bolt right up. I've currently got a sag 3spd on it.

I'm in Hannibal MO which is 100 Miles North of ST Louis.

PM me if you can help.

thanks SSWJ

You can get a 5speed out of a 86-90 s-10 that has a 2.5 its a borg warner trans and will bolt up to your orignal bell housing, but you have to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter as its a top loader,If you dont beat them they will last...

do you have experience with this modification?
What is your definition of "beat" it?
And, what kind of spedo hookup does it have, cable or electronic?
Also, will the splines in the input shaft match the ones from the old tranny so i won't have to change out the flywheel and clutch system??

thanks sswj

You would need to not put it in like 3rd gear and floor it...you know...They will hold up some, same trans is found in camaros, but the f-body ones are tilted and wont work..
The early ones pre 89 88 and older have speedo cable drive..
And the clutch is a 26 spline ,but you just need a disk from a v8 camaro
No just change the disk out ,Get one from a 85-92 with a v8
This is about the easiest swap to do and trannys are out there for a good price too.

You mean if you're at highway speeds(70 MPH) and you want to pass, don't put it in 3rd and go, right?

I've got an 11" disk right now. Will that be the same as the 26 spline from the Camaro??

thanks for all the help thus far, SSWJ

The camaro clutch is a 10.5 one..so it is not that much smaller,You can get a good 26 slpine disk from jegs or summit...

Yes , Just not anything like that,Now they will take a beating...but i was talking like a 400hp motor and just flat out wide open then dumping the clutch...Its wont last that way... You do not want the getrag style trans that has the bellhousing made to it..Those are junk...

I am getting ready to do this swap to my 70 2wd blazer..the T-10 is in need of overhual, and i want o.d. so..Its going to get done...

I just did this swap a week ago. I replaced a SM465 with a 5 speed/OD out of an 89 Scottsdale. These trans are different than what you have now, the bellhousing is part of the trans. It will bolt to your 350. THere may be some mods, like the clutch. The 5 speed I have, used a hydraulic clutch which you would have to use because the throughout fork is on the passenger side. The input shafts should be the same (10 spline), you will have to check the output shaft. The 5 speed has the driveshaft that slides into the back of the trans, unlike the SM465 that has a universal joint right at the output of the shaft.

Let me know if you need a clutch kit, have a new 10 spline w/pp & TO bearing $75 to the door.

Not sure its 10 spline, 10.5" across, made by McLeod.
