Pictures of completed exterior and nearly finished engine compartment
Still needs an air cleaner. Looks like one from a 5.7L Dodge truck will work. Pinstripping and body side moldings on the way real soon...

WOW!! That's a nice truck. What filler door is that? Did you use a factory harness for your TPI or an aftermarket?

The entire filler door and filler pocket assembly is from a 1990 Mazda 626. The release for the door cable is in the cab behind the driver's seat. Painless wiring harness. Looks intimidating but if I remember correctly there are only four wires to hook up. llegos: It's a very plain vanilla 350 crate motor with about 265HP. the truck will be my daily driver so I have no need for headers but I thought long and hard before deciding to go with the factory ram horns.

Nice looking truck!. What kind of molding and stripes are you putting on?. I would think hard before changing anything on that truck.

Damn nice looking truck. I like it a lot. Is that a 62 Vette in background? (I know it's a Vette, just can't see enough of it to tell the year?)

Thank you, thank you, thank you
Having other Chevy truck folks make such nice comments makes the 2-1/2+ years of work well worth it.....
Quote:
WES: Thanks for all the help with rear bumper brackets, that had me stumped. derrickbwg: I did have one sponsor of sorts. My best friend painted it, did the color sanding and polishing and didn't charge me for his labor. Well, didn't charge me in terms of money. I spent many weekends helping him replace all the siding on his two-story house, helping him build a very large covered patio and I replaced his breaker box. 70c10: The body side molding will be painted to match the truck and will be the type used on the late model Denalli trucks. There will be a double, fine line pin stripe on the apex of the rounded body line that goes down the entire side of the truck, one in charcoal and one in pale yellow to match the hood lettering. 92-93 Mazda Miata mirrors. I saw someone else's repsonse to another post of mine that he has had these same mirrors on his truck for 4 years. If I'd only known that before, I wouldn't have spend so many hours looking in junkyards for mirrors that would look good on the truck. dual quad: 275 X 45 X 20 Goodyear tires 4-1/2" back spacing on the American Racing rims

You've built a really nice ride! I really liked your interior pics too, I especially liked the glove box door. I've even thought of making some here at the shop. As for your mirrors, did they bolt up to the stock holes or did you have to weld up and drill new ones? I'm about to have mine painted and want to weld my holes up if need be. Is Buda on the way to Austin from Houston? Us Texas guys need to plan a meet sometime this fall. Good Work on the truck! Later.

Where did you get your hood, and is it a 2" lift? |

You'll need to weld up the holes for the stock mirrors. I used nut inserts in the door skins to mount the mirrors. If you use nut inserts you'll need to grind off the boss for each hole on the bottom of the mirror bracket. There's also a "bulge" that fits in a hole on the Mazda door that wil have to be ground flat regardless of how you mount them. Buda is the first town south of Austin but the truck is in south Austin on off Ben White Blvd (Hwy. 71). Come on over, be glad to show it to you....
Buckman: It's a custom mixed BASF pearl color that is very, very close to the "bronze" metallic color on the 2005 Corvette (I keep forgetting the name, but a Chevy dealer can tell you) and on the 2004/05 Honda Element. I bought the 2" cowl hood from Outback Truck Parts at a swap meet so I didn't have to pay freight. It's a Goodmark brand hood and can be bought from any of the board members. Had to "massage" it a little but the overall quality is excellent. I would strongly suggest you buy genuine GM (not aftermarket) hood hinges which are still available from your local GM dealer and many board vendors.

I really like the look of those Mazda mirrors. How is the visability??. Are they tall enough for our trucks?. I installed new factory sport mirrors on my dads truck and even installed the passenger side 3/4" further per GM specs and they are still kind of hard to see out for some reason. Just curious because they should be easy to get.
