Coil Overs
Ok I have a 70 Long bed 1/2 2wd with coils in the back. I saw a kit in jegs that has coil overs, and all the brackets to bolt them in. But it said for cars 3300-4000 pounds. So that wont work for my truck will it?
So what coil overs will I need then? I can always buy the brackets and just make my own cross member for the top.

You need the weight on the rear half of the truck not the whole truck.

I did a set of QA1 coilovers from jegs. The adjustable shocks are nice. I used the 3000-4000 # kit and it works great! Dynoed the truck last week at 655 Rear wheel horsepower, and using only drag radials, it literally pulls the front end of the truck off the ground. I give most of the credit to the QA1 adjustable coilovers.

How are those bottom brackets on there? Those are adjustable right, so I can set the ride height at different heights.

It's quite tedious work getting all the geometry right when setting them up, definatly somthing you don't wanna rush through. as you can see in the pic, i also have an adjustable panhard bar too, that is relocated for the lowered truck, and moved to clear the coilovers, which is a real tight fit.

I have the qa1's on my dragtruck and had them on my street truck also! I also put them on my uncle's 66!

I would recommend the adjustable pan hard bar too but we mounted my uncle's in front of the rear axle and had plenty of room!

There website list a 3" drop coil over set for $499 and a 4.5" drop coil over for $549. Too steep for me..I just put in 4" drop springs. Here's a link to a tech article about installing them on our trucks:

Can anyone recommend which kit(QA1 or CPP) is better? From what I gather CPP is bolt-on and QA1 needs more work to install. Would this be accurate?

I would go with the Qa1 for racing! If its just a street truck it would probably be fine either way!

I'd lean to wards the qa1 route! I've had them on 3 trucks and the adjust ability is nice. qa1 makes them both ways so I'd get them adjustable! I also prefer the look of the more custom route. I'd get the cpp adjustable track arm bar!

Do you think coil overs will help my traction alot? I was out at the track tonight with my truck and one run was a 20 because I spun through first and all through second. And every run I had to baby it off the line and the best run was a 16.95 with some sliping.
