roller bearing spindle adpt.

Hey guys, I'm trying to install disk brake front end on the original spindles of my '48 chevy 1/2t pickup. The kit I bought from CPP came with adpts to install the new roller bearings onto my spindles , but the only problem is they wont go on all the way. I have tried heating the adpt , sanding the spindle,putting the adpt. into boiling water for appx. 5 min. (like the instructions say)but no go all the way. it stays about 3/8" from seating on the spindle. Any suggestions? I'm all ears!!!!! Thanx

does this happen on both sides?

you may try wrapping the spindle in a cold pack like the ones you get from a pharmacy for knee injuries, heat the part in an oven to about 350 take it out wrap it in a cooking glove and carry it out to the truck quickly take off the cold pack and try to push on the spacer. the cold pack and 350* are well within the heat range of those parts. unless the MFG says something to the opposite.

Did you give CPP a call? They were there today. Their tech support did a good job for me recently.

slide a foot long piece of pipe that just fits over your spindle,it will even out the drive of the hammer blows.

Hmmm, I put just the roller bearings on my Burb last fall and they went on easily as I recall by heating the race with my propane torch. Just can't let it get too hot, don't let the metal change color in other words.

Hey guys, it's been a while but just wanted to thank you all for the help on my spindle adpt. ! with a little more heat and emery cloth (bigger hammer) they went on just fine!!!! Dont ask me to take them off now....
btw if anyone buys the leaf spring and shock kit to install your new open shaft rearend and convert from lever to tube shocks, from www.truckandcarchop.com, make sure you also order the lower shock mount bolt because they do not come w/the "kit" thought I'd save you a little running around or digging in the sacred bolt bucket.
