exhaust thru the frame brace...pics?
i know i've seen members of the board post pics of, and discussion around running exhaust thru the frame brace. i'd like to do this to my 68 to increase ground clearance (actually to eliminate excess curves to help exh. flow and clean up underside too)
anybody????pics ![]()

Wouldn't doing that cause everything to vibrate due to the exhaust having direct contact with the frame? Also, Isn't there an easier way to run the exhaust with out going through the frame? I don't see the point.

not gonna touch the frame. you gotta see pics of the finished product. an the point is to avoid all the curves and clearance issues.

Cheyenne Super
What about they guys that have full air suspension that are laying frame and have next to no clearance. That would be some tricky exhaust work.

exhaust
if you seen trucks this weekend or if you went through the build up on early classic's web page they both have the exhaust going through the frame. I understand why, I wander just how they cut them holes so perfectly

Coming off the manifold outlet, I go back and out to just in front of the firewall where the frame rail curves upward. Take the exhaust pipe to the outside of the frame rail there-- it's higher than the lowest part of the frame. Then turn the pipe back and run it near the frame rail into an offset muffler (I used a pretty flat off-the-shelf oval muffler for < $30). This puts the muffler just below the outer 2 seat bolts on the driver's side of the truck. Then run the pipe out the back of the muffler back to the notch in the bottom rear of the cab (you may have to give it a little curve there depending on where your muffler's outlet was). About a foot under the bed, just turn the pipe down. Yeeheh! For the v8, just do the same to both sides. BTW, this frees up huuuuuge amounts of room between the swingarms and driveshaft for things like compressors, air tanks, whatever. Pics when I get a chance. Kenneth

i got under and took a long look XXL and that looks like that may be the ticket. i'm gonna use 2.5" tubing, and flowmaster delta flows which are a tad smaller, but longer than off the shelf turbos. thanks
oh yea XXL, you think like me: "air tank, compressor" yea, yea!!! ![]()
