Center-link and tie-rods....

Are the center link and tie-rods on a power steering truck the same as a manual steering set-up?? Pittman and idler arm as well??

I had manual steering on mine when I switched to PS. I just bolted the PS box up and that was all. I didn't have to change anything....

Yes they are the same from my exp. The Pittman arm should be on the doner box. The pitman are from a 3/4 ton is also the same as a 1/2 ton. I think they are the same from manual to power. But not 100% sure.

Just make sure when it goes back together that the tie rods are coming in from the back of the center link.(looking at it from the front of the truck. Everything will go together find with them going in from the front but you steering will be short like driving a ford. I learned the hard way. Had to pay for 2 front end alignments.

The centerlink, idler arm and tie-rods are the same. The pitman arm is different, I believe. You can verfify this by just going to an on-line parts store (Parts America or Auto Zone) and doing a part search. I believe you will see different pitman arms for power and non-power steering.

You have to worry about tierods if you decide to switc from drum to disc brakes. Of course, if you buy aftermarket spindles (like Early Classic Enterprises) you can get spindles machined to accept your original tierods...makes like easy.

4tiresngas is correct. The pitman arm is different for power and manual. Everything else is the same.

This applies to "normal" power steering, not the ram assisted early stlye.
