4speed tilt column. Whats it worth?

I bought a plow truck with a factory 4 speed tilt column. The trucks a bone and somebody could probably use this. Its an 83 so the dimmer is still on the floor but the column is tight. I dont want to ebay it but whats a fair price to ask when the snow melts???

Just reroute the wires to the floor switch. It's an easy fix.

Re: 4speed tilt column. Whats it worth?

I've bought and sold a few used ones for $40-60. I've seen them on Ebay $20-120 for used ones and $200 for rebuilt.

If shipping wouldn't be so brutal, I'd happily take that tilt column off your hands!

Re: 4speed tilt column. Whats it worth?

I paid $200 for my rebuilt 4-speed tilt. They are harder to come by than the normal auto tilts...so if you word it right on Ebay you should be able to get over $100 no sweat.

Not to jack the thread, But, can the Shift Collar and the auto shift guts on a auto tilt column be replaced with a smooth collar? For 4spd or auto on floor users?

Not easily.

The street rod guys make plastic sleeves to cover an auto column after you cut the boss off for the shifter. I think you could find one by searching "Zoops".

You could also bondo and paint the column after cutting off the boss.

Re: 4speed tilt column. Whats it worth?

My K5 came with the tilt/4-speed factory. However I have run across a couple in the boneyards. One is in my town and it's been there for over a year. (same truck I got a factory tach out of) It's was a loaded 78. As is I'd say $100 easy. Clean it up and go through it and I'd go double that easy.

You have to really look for them in the boneyard as they are easy to overlook like a auto column with the shifter missing. If you see 3 pedals and a hole in the floor AND tilt, take the column. Somebody will always be looking for one. If mine didn't have it I would have searched for one to install.
