We are becoming a Dealer for Caltracs and I was going to see if anyone here would be interested in a group buy? This applies to all their product applications not just 73-87 trucks.

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

Chris, what is the group buy rate, and how many orders do you need?

Also, will these work with trucks with HD leaf springs...or it is a lost cause?

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

I am not interested in the purchase, but I want to add a comment for those who are considering it.

We've had caltracs on TWO of our 73-87 pickups, and they are absolutely AWSOME.

That is all.

Jeff, the HD springs shouldn't matter. I can call and check. They basically need to know if you are lowered (flipped) or not.

The pricing is $339.

Right now I was just wondering in anyone is interested...

Mine is lowered( flipped). Id love to get a set, I have slapper bars on it now that dont do much good. but I im in the middle of spending 5K on bodywork & parts on it, so Caltracs will have to wait. John

Just in case there is confusion, they have kits for both flipped and non flipped, but if you are lowered I need to know how. There is no price difference on either.

Chris, can you check out the HD spring question I have? I just don't want to buy these if they won't work with what I already have.

If all will be well, Count me in for sure.

I have a flip kit.

Jeff, I verified with them what I said was true. All they care about is where is the axle located (top or bottom of spring). Since the springs are swappable, you don't have a problem. Their pieces bolt into the front hanger and to the bottom of the spring/axle.

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

Steve,

since you have them or have had them on your truck I have question before I commit to buying a set. Do they make the ride any worse? If it's worse I think I'll pass.

I have absolutely no traction as any of us know who have a better performing engine know and have comtemplated many times about buying some Caltracs. I know they are the best we can get without going to a four link or something drastic.

As a side note, I emailed the good folks at Caltrac a long time ago about the price and info for them and never received a reply back. I guess they were too busy to mess with me at the time.

Anyway, it's sound like a good deal to me if it all pans out. Chris, it sure would be nice if you could get at least 10 to join in on this.

Gee Mike, you had to ask that...

It's been nearly 5 years no since I last drove the truck, but I don't recall any significant change in my ride quality.

Here's the best I can do as for how they look and work. Reason I was asking about ride quality is because the front pivot doesn't have rubber but instead uses steel bushings. It wouldn't work if it did have rubber or urethane.

I would be in for a set. I just recently bought a used set for my old Dodge Dart. All the Mopar guys I know that have used these swear by them. In fact, if this GP looks like a go, do you mind if I post this to all the Mopar forums I am on? I bet I could get at least a few people interested.

I have the caltracs and didn't notice any difference in the ride. It also depends on how you adjust them. You can keep them loose for normal driving then tighten them up for the track. I will be selling mine soon as I am switching to the 67-72 trailing arm, coil spring setup.

I'm flipped and would definately be in on a set. 2-3 local guys here have them on their trucks and the traction difference is amazing.

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

Just checking to see if I am correct. From here I have 3 in:
bigblock73
454HO
Crush

swervin ervin ?

From back in my hangings out the the 454SS guys they confirmed what Wild83C10 said. The also loved these things.

454HO, I don't mind you posting it there. As long as they make the app and it isn't something special they have to build that is fine. I don't want to get involved with that. I would much rather get X application and send it to someone.

Chris, you are correct...count me in.

Another question or two. I know you used to have to provide them with dimensons for your application...is that still the case or do they just have a 73-87 w/flip and a 73-87 without flip?? I ask because I have HD rear springs and others may not...I want to be sure if it is this way the bars will fit my truck AND work they way they are supposed to.

Do we know when we are looking at doing this? I'll be out of town all next week and won't be back until the 21st.

They just have a 73-87 flip and non-flip application. The spring dimension is the same from the front have to the center pin/mounting location so the dimensions would be the same. HD vs STD springs have the same front dimension, so it won't make a difference.

Well, I am looking to do it next week. If you are in, I will take care of it for you and we can hook up when you get back. Will that work?

BTW, right now we have 4 here and 3 local for a total of 7 commited.

That'd be awesome man. I may be looking to order some bumpers/brakets/bolt kits also...can I get them all shipped at once, or are these being shipped direct from CalTrac?

No problem...I tried getting to your catalog but was getting some errors. Can you shoot me a price for '79 front/rear bumpers (no molding holes, "blazer" type rear), front/rear braket kits and bolts shipped to 32259?

Thanks.
