Zing the frame Q's

I did a search and cam up with nothing really. I'm wondering is where all the cuts are made and what else is involved in the front.

Try a pm to 7deuce he has a wicked slammed truck with all that done and he just put in a post somwhere if anyone had ?s he would be happy to answer them Also check out the www.ifcustom.com. they call it a stock floor bodydrop but if you look at the pics you can get an idea what was cut and where. There are a couple other guys on here that have some nice ones done too but I can't remember thier names. I actually asked 7deuce a question myself and he was really helpful.

Check www.loweredd.com And follow the yellow brick road. Remember you need to have an end goal of how low you want to be and what suspension you are going to use before you start the Zing. I only Z'd mine 2 3/4" but I did a TON of other sh%t to get the end result. Ill help you out any way I can. CUT IT TO THE ROCKERS...................

hey 7deuce question for ya...im zing mine next weekend got that under control but then i was gonna cut the bottom of the frame off to be bd...when i cut the bottom off the frame do i need raise the tranny up anymore or will zing it raise it enough?

hey laidout86, i wouldnt cut the bottom of the frame you might run into a problem getting the frame down due to not enought suspension travel... why not move the cab mounts down the +-1" needed and raise the trans tunnel up that much more? just a thought...

I Z'd mine 2 3/4" which I wish I would have done a 3 or 3 1/4". Once you Z the frame the motor and tranny will be in place and all you have to do is make a new tranny Xmember (REMEMBER YOUR EXHAUST HAS TO RUN UNDER THERE TOO) So think about your Xmember before building. As far as running the 2x4 box and hacking the bottoms of the rails, thats what I did, I was layin body HARD. Too hard for me I wanted to frame out before I killed the body, but after taking the 2" off the bottoms, your rockers, bed sides and front fenders ALL need to be cut down. I dont know how low you want to go, fab skillz, ect. I would first measure how much frame hangs down below the body and go from there. You might be able to get away with 2x5 box. Also what year is your truck. This is what I know for the 67-72 style. Any other questions let me know. Just dont be lazy and retarded and Z the frame like 5" You can cheat some suspension clearance here and there. Just gotta be smarter than that dumb ol' truck. 412BEATDOWNCREW

I also had a modded ECE auto tranny crossmember and the ECE trailing arm crossmember btw.

I put a set of 22's on mine today with 255/30/22 and there the same size as my 255/35/20 BUY, Because I didnt narrow the front clip " check out camaro thunder or ifcustoms" They are about3/4 of an inch too wide for the hood. If your going foe double deuces than I think it would be wise to narrow the front about 3".

No, I dont want to lay body, just frame. Hopefully I wont have to narrow it. Ill find out soon enough. Im starting on it this weekend. Ill try to post pics.

o wow some people from florida....67 fleet i saw ur truck on sat at the blockbuster parkin lot i was in love!..im bringin my to the shop 2morrow..i cant wait...7duece i decieded to not bd it just frame it for now on 22's...so im gonna z it 2 3/4 u think it will be enough? i dont want to go to much and run into problems with distrubtor hittin firewall...hopefully u can help me out...

I moved my motor up to the front set of hole which was 3 inches ( now I need a longer drive shaft) and I Zed it 2 3/4 and I destroyed the HEI. I was bairly able to get the cap off. All you need is $225 for a mallory unilight distrubtor and problem solved. If you just do the Z and leave the stock frame rails alone youll be fine. I ran 2X4 and cut the bottoms off and still laid out with a 2 3/4 Z. INDY OR BUST.......

Did you buy that Mallory distributer? What size wheels are you runnin? I Zd mine 3" and plan on moving the motor to the front holes also.

Yup, there is no problem with the unilight. Its the way to go. The HEI is WAY too big.
