Water pump rotation
When was the change from multiple belts to serpentine? Does the water pump rotation change?

Re: Water pump rotation
For the trucks it was 1988 not sure about the burbs and blazers and yes if it is a single belt system the H2O pump will be a reverse rotation pump.

Re: Water pump rotation
It rewinds itself!
I would guess that you are asking if a water pump is put onto the wrong setup in error. (I.E. a standard rotation pump on a serepentine belt setup) The water flow through the block is the same on a reverse rotation setup as a standard motor, however the inside of the pump allows for the change in rotation, in it's design of the impeller. If you run a pump backwards the motor should exibit an overheating condition and the water flow will be really low. |
