Header fit

I have a 77 1 ton wrecker 2wd with a 350 and an sm465 i need to find out what you guys with a manual are using for headers. i dont want to beat on a new set of headers with a hammer or modify the clutch linkage. i want a set that actually fits. brand and part number would be awesome. thanks

Re: Header fit

I ran 69090 Hedmans on my 78 C 20, stick shift truck. In the Hooker line, I think the 2452 comps will fit also(you need to verify the fit for stick tho). L

Re: Header fit

yea i have looked through all my books and nothing seems clear cut on whether or not it fits. i have installed enough sets that were supposed to fit and didnt and figured i would ask first before buying.it did seem that heddman and dynomax were the most clear cut on fitting or not just trying to make sure. thanks

Re: Header fit

The hedmans fit without cutting or bending on my 78.....the same headers will fit the 67-72 (auto trans only tho). Due to the placement on the block pivot ball, the 67-72's need a 69092 hedman for the stick trucks. on the 73-up the pivot ball screws into the bellhousing, & the bellcrank drops in behind #7 tube (IIRC). The older trucks had the pivot ball tween # 5 & 7 tubes, or actually going inline with # 7 tube with the factory sb placement. I do beleive the Hookers will fit your 77, & IMO are a better set of headers.....but I cant say from experience on that...... L

Re: Header fit

theres no doubt the hookers are a better set of headers but im trying to do this on the cheap for the time being.the trucks job is to make money not cause me to spend it lol.i just wanna let it breathe a little. the small block needs all the help it can get. the truck is 8k pounds empty and im constantly running 11k or higher loaded
