Brake Booster

I have been following along with dwcsr on his hydro boost installation when I got to thinking....I happen to have on of those on the truck that we are stripping for parts. Has anyone tried to install something like that under the dash of one of these old trucks? My dad doesn't want it on the firewall and doesn't like the way the brake pedal swings with it under the floor so I got to thinking that I could fab up some sort of brackets and attach it under the dash. Am I crazy or do you think it will work?

It will attach on the frame where the old one was. You need a bracket and pedal assembly for the year you have and tell them its for a master with a booster, Im not sure if they are the same but just let them know.. You will need some longer hyd. lines but everything else is the same as if you put it on the firewall. I think classic performance has them. if your going under the cab use a lower profile master not like mine, I dont know that mine would fit.

Make sure you use the complete system with master and most definately get that middle pushrod with spring.

We have a 87 crew cab that we pulled the motor out of and the truck is still at the house, so my plan is to pull the booster, pedal assy and the mounting plate off the truck before we scrap it. That way I will have everything that I might need. I know the master cylinder will need some revamping because we are going to use disc brakes all around and the truck had drums on the rear, but I can deal with that. Here's my idea though. I have seen some Hot Rods with the booster mounted under the dash sideways and I was going to give that a try. I haven't looked yet to even see if there is enough room or not so I might try that this weekend. I have the ability to fab up anything I might need so that won't be a problem either. It would take some sort of direction changer. The only problem would be if it leaked then it would drip on the floor instead of on the ground. I don't know if it will even work but it was just a thought coming out of my crazy mind...lol.

I don't think you have room for a booster or hydro unit under the dash. I have seen manual masters under the dash. It would be a PIA to fill and repair/replace. Get a corrvette master and that takes care of the 4 wheel disc.
