Re: need help from u fab guys
You have to build a notch to clear the arms or just backhalf it. You can also move the trailing arm mounts so they go straight back from the xmember to the rearend. EASY FIX !

Re: need help from u fab guys
I will take some pics of mine today. I built some new trailing arms out of 2x3 tubing. That gives you some more clearance.

Re: need help from u fab guys
Run a 4 link and your problem is solved. Youll also be able to get rid of that monster trailing arm X-member that will also keep you from laying out.

Re: need help from u fab guys
the x-member wont keep you from laying out if you drag it flat, or cut the lip off and plate it. Thats what I did on mine and it worked out great.

Re: need help from u fab guys
One spot you need to redo is the front Z. You need to have it one piece of steel going from top to bottom. The vertical weld you have on the two pieces of metal will eventually rip like a zipper even with gusetts on the top and bottom.

Grind out a v in the vertical weld where the two plate are currently welded at and reweld them. That way you can grind the weld flat for plating and still have a good weld there. Drill 3 1/2" holes in the box plate just where they will be over the vertical weld and weld the box plate to the vertical plate. It will tie it all together as should produce a good stiff connection area and of course weld around the box plates on both sides. |

Re: need help from u fab guys
I would back half the truck and body drop the bed. The notch you have right now is way to small. And also how tall are thoes tires. If you put 20's on it, it would probably not lay out. If you want to see my 4 link go on the dragndoorhandle forum and theres pics on there.

Re: need help from u fab guys
What's holding it up? It's hard to tell from the pics, but looks like the axle is resting on the notch?

just about finished in the front thex member is 7" off the ground. i figure 2 1/2 drop spindels, 2" after i cut the bump stop mount bracket off and 2"off of the wheel tire size, witch is 30" right now 18"rim with 6+6 of rubber.

Re: need help from u fab guys
E, on your original step notch with the trailing arms how much clearance was between the axle and the bottom of the notch when the trailing arms hit the frame? I know you already cut it out, but an approximation would be good. I'm wanting to put my blazer low, but I don't want anything to touch the ground so your first notch looks like what I would want. Thanks for your time.
