Help with tfer case...can someone
maybe clue me in to where my transfer case MIGHT be leaking from? I know you can't tell much from this picture but it would be better than my guess. You guys are the experts around here. If it's just a gasket...where can I get the gaskets or seals for this thing? I'm a computer guy so any help that yall can give me or if someone could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
my first place to check fro mthe pic is where your speedo cable screws in the the ratio box on the side of the case looks like you cable might be pulling on it a little and that could cause a leak.
i would wipe it down good then drive it a little the check it again. good luck jamie

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
You really shouldn't have any leaks of Gear Oil above the fill bolt. If you are experiencing leaks that high up I would guess that you have ATF in there from your tranny. A brand new set of Tcase gaskets will succomb to an overfilling of ATF. Those seals at the top aren't really meant to have fluid against them at all times.
You may have to pull out your tcase and redo that big O ring from the tranny to the Tcase. Since you have the Tcase out I would have it resealed as well. You can do it on your own but you have to pull the gears apart.

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
Clean it all off, and see where a fresh leak starts from. Its hard to tell after they've been driven a lot becuase the fluid gets thrown everywhere.
Its probally leakin from the snout of the transfercase, my 82' started there right before i sold it. -Cameron also check if your tranny is leaking, its entirely possible its throwing fluid back onto the transfercase. I had my father's dealership do a oil change on my truck and they dropped the oil filter, which cause it to leak, by the time i got home and realized it was leaking i had oil covering the entire undercarrage, from enigine to rear driveshaft.

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
If it is leaking from there, what kind of repair would I need to do? Are we talking gaskets and seals here or something worse?

Unless the case is cracked, to fix any leak you are looking at gaskets and seals. I got my rebuilt kit from Transmission Exchange (http://www.txchange.com/).

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
Looks like he is full of atf, look at the color of the oil dripping off the speedo parts. Pull the FILLER plug out and see what happens. May have to pull the case to install new seals in between the 2 units. At that point I would reseal the whole t-case myself.

Looks like a T350 to me - that's what most Blazers came with...
Check this link for help in sealing the speedo cable... This guy is over on coloradok5.com - very cool website... http://www.norcalbigdawgs.net/Gallery/album49

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
This is an old thread by Blizz, but I am having the same problem. Currently the transmission and Tcase are pulled out of the blazer and unbolted from one another (th350/np205 - 27 spline with drive sleeve) I believe the seal in question is actually in the adapter plate on mine. Do I get to this by pulling everything out from the transmission side and work my way back? I know this is a technical question and could use some pictures, sorry.
Blizz, how did yours turn out?

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
I'm having the same problem also (tranny fluid in the tcase). I put new gaskets and seals in it a few years ago but it didn't help. I plan on taking the trans. and tcase out again this winter to inspect and reseal again. Is there anyone that has a diagram that shows where all the seals and o rings go, I'm thinking I might have missed something when I did it the first time.

Re: Help with tfer case...can someone
to replace the seal in the transfer case adapter just unbolt it from the tranny and bolt off the transfer case...there are two seals inside the adapter.
