Parting out 80s crew cab 4x4
Just found a mid 80s SRW crew cab GMC. IIRC its an 85, but could be wrong. Guy doesn't know either, doens't know anything about the truck. It looks like an old state truck or thruway truck, but it spent it's life on Long Island. Its rusty, but not terribly bad, but I dont' think there would be much for body parts. Has a 350, runs but sounds like it needed a tuneup, turbo 400 trans is no good, 205 case, couldn't tell what pattern it was. Around this year truck they switched to circular pattern. Of course it's a 60 front, 4.10 gears, looks to be in OK shape, but won't know till I get it here. 14 bolt rear, not sure if it's a the Govlok or not. I won't be getting the truck for a couple of weeks, but once I get it here, gonna see if I can get it to run little better, and see what's up with the trans. Like I said the guy didn't know dittily about trucks, didn't even know what tranny it was, so it could be something simple like just low on fluid, dunno. If your interested in anything, drop me a PM. I'm putting this here cause I don't think I'm gonna ship stuff anymore. It's getting too expensive to ship, and will kill alot of deals, so prefer local or northeast. Got screwed on the last thing I shipped cause the shipping company got the freight code wrong, so I have to pay for their mistake. I *might* keep the frame, cause I want to build a crew cab short box if I can ever sell my damn truck. I will get some pics when I get the truck.

Re: Parting out 80s crew cab 4x4
We have a '79 crew cab, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head that we need right now. I was looking for a 4 x 4 frame for it but we bought a F-450 4 x 4 and remounted the next larger fuel truck. If I think of anything I will let you know and pick up it up on my way south to Hershey this fall. Binghamton is off of I-81 isn't it?

Yep, I am right off 81. Im not gonna use the frame, as I found another one with a better body, so everything off the 80s is up for grabs. As for the 90, that one will be keeping, but selling the axles out of it.

Re: Parting out 80s crew cab 4x4
Both are open knuckle, one is an 85 or 86, SRW 4.10s. The other is a 90 Dually, open knuckle 3.73s. $750 for each. Just FYI, all GM 60s were open knuckle, only differences over the years (77-91) was 1980 and older had tapered inner shafts, where the newer ones aren't tapered. The tapered ones are a smidge weaker, and can't be narrowed, whereas the newer ones are of course stronger and can be narrowed.

The dually axles aren't spoken for yet, someone buy them so I won't run then....

What are the cabs like if you are getting rid of them.

Re: Parting out 80s crew cab 4x4
I will have to get a better look at the 85-ish cab, I think it's fixable, but at the time I couldn't get a real good look in and under the truck. The other truck I'm keeping, soon to be my driver.
