Rear End
What is the Quickest way to find out the gear ratio, and if the rear end is positive traction when you are in a junk yard. I don't want to pull off the plates covering the diff. to find what I need. Is there a tag somewhere that I can get the numbers?

Re: Rear End
the first thing to look for is the tag under one of the bolts that says positraction gear lube only

Re: Rear End
no guarantee that it will still have one on it, find the rpo codes usually in the glove box posi is G80 on these trucks and say GU6 is 342 gears just for an example you can also do a search on gm rpo codes for those year trucks and you will find some more results as i have done this in the past hope i've been somewhat helpful
