Re: opinions on engine compartment
So i assume you have to paint the firewall then when you paint the rest of the cab (and thus without the truck together)?? This has been on my mind a while...

Re: opinions on engine compartment
Most of us are doing full tear downs on our trucks anyway arent we? Personally If I were you id want to finish off the whole engine compartment with the same color vs. black. I know I was crazy and even smoothed my inner fenders

Re: opinions on engine compartment
here is a good pic of my engine bay
I think color on the inside makes a big difference. I still need to paint the radiator cover and repaint the firewall because we screwed it up hehe Last edited by 55ChevyPU; 11-07-2006 at 10:23 PM. |

Re: opinions on engine compartment
I'm a fan of full color in the engine bay myself unless your plan a stock restro, then I would go black on the fenders and color on the firewall.

Re: opinions on engine compartment
Well it is a mild custom. In the sense that there aren't "major" body mods(lambo /suicide doors, chopped top, channelled or notched frame, etc.). I want it to appear as stock as possible with the comforts of today. Obviously it wont have a stock underhood/ powertrain, but I like the idea that a GM factory TPI 350 V8 can fit in the stock engine bay of my '54 without to many modifications. I will also be using a GM steering column from a Nova (68-71?) with a GM/Chevy horn button. I guess I answered my own ? about the color scheme. And if I don't like it, I can always repaint the inner fenders.
Well off topic, I still need a starter, waterpump, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, distributor, fuel/brake lines, and I'm getting a TCI front end to replace my current Pacer front end. I'll post up pics as the parts come in and progress takes place. BTW, the PW stuff came in that hooks up to the stock window cranks. Anyone know where I can get "stock-ish" style door panels in leather? Or am I better off re-covering them? Thanks, Daniel U

Re: opinions on engine compartment
I've got a color matched yellow firewall, inner fenders, black underhood, black core support, black radiator, orange block/heads, and little chrome. I like the colored look.
