Aftermarket rear-hatch

Has anyone bought an aftermarket rear hatch for their blazer? I'm trying to decide whether mine is worth fixing. Any reviews would be appreciated.

Re: Aftermarket rear-hatch

I don't know anyone that has forked over th $ for the reproduction hatches. On one thread about 2 years ago, Mothertrucker's piped in about the hatches. As far as I know, he is the only one who has ever seen one. They are just the bare fiberglass shell - no hardware, glass or seals.

There are used ones out there if look. I got one with some minor issues from WES for $50 back when I had my '69. I've seen a few others for sale on the board and in various classified listings in the past.

How's the progress coming? I haven't seen you on the board much lately.

Re: Aftermarket rear-hatch

I've been busy. I've only worked on the blazer sporadically. It is painted and the it runs. I've got to finish some of the wiring, do the interior, and work on the top. The top is about a day or two's worth of work away from paint. The rear hatch is almost fubar. I think I'm going to look for one in the classifieds while slowly working on mine.

Re: Aftermarket rear-hatch

I know mothers said they were good. I had read a tech article on an installation at one point. I think some mods had to be done to strengthen where things bolted in. I was going to get one but after that I decided to buy some good used ones and fix them

I was fortunate to have a like new one come with "GQ" man it's 99.9%
perfect, except the gelcoat was blasted off of it so it could be redone.

Re: Aftermarket rear-hatch

Thanks for the replies. I decided to try to find a used one too. I plan to try to fix mine, but if I can find one it sure would make things easier. I posted a WTB in the classified section.
