Another FYI: Choke deletes
Since people liked the FYI: tow hook thread, lets throw some choke deletes in the mix. I have managed to find 4 different styles. I believe these were used on 67 trucks equipped with a 327 and Q-jet carbs and 68 trucks with a 327 or 396 with a Q-jet. Please correct me if i am wrong. The 2 gm ones share the same part number and national detroit on the back. Only difference i can see is the square and round corners. The 2 round ones are chrome and wrinkle finish. Maybe a cst thing? I threw in a pic of a choke plate and a dash bezel that didn't come with a choke stamp on it. Enjoy... Add coments or info!
Eric Not sure what FYI i can come up with next week!

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
I have found many more square ones than the other style. Also have found quite a few of the plastic "CHOKE" tabs while looking for the "THROTTLE" tabs.
The rare tab is the "REAR A/C" for the Suburbans.

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
Bob, i included a couple pics so people understand what you are referring to. Was that rear a/c tab different for the earlier years? This one is on my 72.
And thanks Aaron for the last delete!!

Great thread too much stuff. Glad I was able to supply the last delete for you. I wander if there are any more different ones out there?

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
Several years ago(more like 10 now) when I first started fooling with trucks the only place I was familiar with to get parts was Golden State Pickup Parts in so-cal. Their catalog listed a THROTTLE name plate whick I wanted as I had the factory hand throttle. I ordered one and it was backordered. I called several times and was always told on backorder. I finally asked for my money back and was told everytime they removed one it would break. Finally I did receive it in the mail. Turned out to be a strip like the ACC/OFF/IGN used on the 71-72 trucks. I later found what they sent me came from an early van. About 2 years later a very nice fellow who ran a local junkyard told me to look in an old air force surplus truck in his yard and lo and behold there was the proper THROTTLE tab. No charge he said. I really miss him and his yard.

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
My Suburban has rear A/C and it doesn't have that plate on the dash, what does that one do? Control the blower motor speed?

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
Here is my choke delete, I also have a throttle tab, truck is a 68 K-10 327cid and had a divorced choke before I changed to a newer intake. I would like to find a nicer one for my bezel though!

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
I have seen some Suburbans with the A/C down the center roof from front to back. Those have a knob above the drivers right shoulder on the unit itself to control the blower speed.
You can find the rear A/C blower switches in conversion vans up to 88 or so. The 73+ suburbans with rear air use a rocker type switch while the vans use a twist type that accept the 67-72 style knobs. This thread has changed has from choke deletes to general cluster data.

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
Is it still possible to buy one of these online or otherwise? What do prices normally run? Would be cool to pick one up, I will need to use one with my truck after the swap, but it would only be there till I mod a glovebox door to house my gauges instead.

Re: Another FYI: Choke deletes
I haven't seen choke deletes in a mag yet. I did see one on Ebay and I remember it being a little pricey $30+ maybe but that would make since now seeing as I haven't seen any more since then.

I have one of the square-cornered ones. It came off a '68 'Burb with a 327.
