on bump stops
I dropped the truck and now I am riding on the bumpstops for the front. Will it hurt anything if I take them out? Or any suggestions?

Re: on bump stops
I cut the rubber portion down on mine to where it would still hit before the metal "steering stop" that is right next to it. How much did you drop it? and how?

Re: on bump stops
if that is al that is holding it up you dont knwo how much more its going to drop when you take them out you could be looking at ball joint damage and you also might be streaching the brake lines it would help to know how much and how it was lowered then work from there on what to do next

Re: on bump stops
I cut my whole bumpstop mount and all out about a year and a half ago and I haven't had any adverse affects.

Re: on bump stops
Thanks for all of the replies. I heated the fronts to get the height that I wanted. I only did that so that I would be able to get the right springs. I like the stance, but I need to do something about my bump stops now. I tried taking them out, but when I hit a bump or hole, it bottoms out and that does not sound good at all!
If so, please post pics of you bump stop mods! Thanks! |

It sounds like you're endangering yourself, your passengers, and the vehicles around you. Please don't drive this vehicle until you get a functional spring in there. Heating springs is bad business. When you hit a bump, you have no idea how the spring will react. Will it compress and rebound? Will it simply break? And where's the front end headed when something does happen? {Waiting for the "I heated my springs and it worked for me" posts}

Re: on bump stops
can you post a pic up of what it looks like
did you take out the bracket that held the bump stop or did you just remove the rubber the sound you hear is either that bracket hitting or the lower A arm you might have heated the springs a bit much and probley need to use a combanation of parts to get you stance the way you like it mabey a 3 in drop spring combined with a 2 in or 2.5 in drop spindle depending on whats offered for your year and model other options could be droped lower A arms or even air ride sus
