rear blazer seat in sideways?

I was looking at purchacing a 70 blazer cst 4x4 85,000 original miles with tach dash. What I noticed was the rear seat was mounted sideways ( on the drivers side) and the rear tire was located behind the drivers seat. It looked all factory to me, Any Ideas?

Re: rear blazer seat in sideways?

If it has the spare factory behind the driver's seat, the rig didn't come with a rear seat. check the build sheet on the glove box - it should be listed. As for mounting the seat sideways, it sounds like a bad idea. I'd look to see if they welded in some supports or just drilled holes through the thin bed metal. If the rig came with a rear seat factory, there should be some mounting points in the bed welded in place with threaded inserts - two in the front and 4 in the back (two of the four rear locations could be for seat belt bolts depending on how it was built.)

Re: rear blazer seat in sideways?

There was no mounting hole in the standard areas, not sure about how the current ( sideways) location is mounted. Thanks
