rebuilding drum brakes need a few suggestions
Hi all,
I'm rebuilding my rear end and figured it would be a great time to replace the heavily worn down backing plates for my 1972 C10. I have completely rebuilt the drums several months ago so all that I need are two new 5 on 5 factory rear drum backing plates. My problem is finding them, no one seems to offer them, I'm stumped... Any ideas or info would be great. Thank you, -Fred |

Re: rebuilding drum brakes need a few suggestions
I dont think they are avaliable new. You can also use them off of a 67-72 1/2 ton rear axle. The backing plates are the same on all the half tons. Id try a pick and pull first and if no luck subscribe and place a wtb add. I also think the ones off of a 73-75 might work to. Hope this helps.

Aaron,
Thanks for the info, I kinda suspected that the drum backing plates were no longer available i think I'm just send the old ones to a machine shop and have them refill them with and regrind them to factory specs. Thanks, -Fred |
