Need some Seat Help
Well i know there have been a millon threads about seats but i need some help because i need to have my seat done by the time summer rolls around. I have a 84 c10 and the seat flat out sucks bildge water! My lower back gets all messed up every time i ride in it and i am not that old at all. My father also complains about the seat to no end. It was definatly the worst part of the ride back from Texas. So what i want to know is what are some resonable options for me?? The truck is more a show and weekend truck. It does haul from time to time but it is more for fun. I took the original seat out which is tan and is in really bad shape! Will replacing the foam and cover make it better on our backs? Also as Clifsta mentioned i my try doubling up on the springs. Any ideas on what would look good in my interior?? I was thinking of going with an older hotrod style. Or a seat cover that resembles the one on it now. Also this would be done by a shop probibly.
My dad likes option two better. This would be a seat from an 88 and up. he likes them because they are thinner. However if i get one from a junk yard it is probibly gonna need to be redone so then i got to add on that to the price. Also i would have to make up brackets. Any one done it and or have pic's????? I wanted to run newer truck (99-04) seats but they are out of the price range at 475 plus shipping. Also it must be a bench or be able to hold three so no cool lowback buckets for me! one of my 2 brothers usually comes with us. or my mother. Thanks for the help and any pictures and or diagrams of your setup? that is what it looks like before i took it out. also the seat cover that is on it. has a ssort of "indian" pattern which i kind of like Also if you vote to have the original or 88-98 seat recovered then please vote for the stye cover. thankis

Re: Need some Seat Help
If it was me i would fix and recover the factory seat that way it would all still be factory and like you said if you go to a junkyard u would have to repair that seat. I'm fixing to repair the seat in my 86 Silverado with repairing the springs and new foam where needed

Re: Need some Seat Help
When the trans. blew in my 74 that prompted the body off job. The FIRST thing out of it was that sorry a$$ bench seat. I do have a bad back and picked up 8 way power tracks out of a couple Park Avenues with 40/60 seats.
They will be topped with race style buckets I had extra padding added too in the lumbar area.

Re: Need some Seat Help
Here you can see what I did with my bench. It was repaired and recovered with grey and a blue bowtie to match the exterior of my truck. It is a lot more comfortable than the old one simply because of the new foam and padding.
