Timing an 87 TBI 5.7L

87 Suburban 350 TBI
I posted this question in Electrical but I see that group isn't real active so I'll give it a try here (hope this cross posting isn't a fatal error). Anyhow, I'm trying to time this Suburban but I can't locate the EST bypass wire. I've looked all around the distributor but can't find any brown with a black strip wire. Thanks.

Look by the brake booster.

Re: Timing an 87 TBI 5.7L

That's where it was, chevytech, right under the brake booster. It's a tan wire with a black stripe just as described in the shop manual. Mine was taped up right under the loom and I didn't see it. Now that I've got this thing timed, I'll move on to more diagnostics and see if I can get it running right. Thanks for the tip.
