65 C-10 paint?
Hey all
I have a 65 C 10 standard cab swb stepside my question is on the factory paint, the trim label on the kick panel drivers side says the paint is fawn, is that inside and out? the p.o. painted the outside turqoise and the inside is like a goldish beige, the inside look like it has never been painted, so did chevy paint the outsides one colour and the insides another? I can't find a label any where giving the interior colour. I am wanting to back factory colours. Thanks in advance Mike |

my 65 c-10 was light blue and the interior is gold like yours. I saw no mention of interior color anywhere in my references.

That is correct. The insides were Fawn Metallic.

To determine the exterior color try sanding through the turquoise. Usually there will be places that were just sanded down, where the original paint was still good. Door jambs are usually good to try.

Re: 65 C-10 paint?
The trim plate says it was originally painted fawn on the exterior. This is not the same as the interior metalic fawn gold color all trucks were painted. The fawn color was a beige-tan and was used one year only between 64-66.Also, yellow and maroon were 1965 one year only colors, and not used in 64 or 66.

Re: 65 C-10 paint?
im not sure if this would work, but having taken a few chemistry classes, I believe that you may be able to reverse the plating of the hubcaps. much like using electrolysis to remove rust, you can use it to remove plating. I think you could use a dc circuit to do this. Im not sure about the polarity to do this though ( i think a positive on the hubcap and negative on a sacrificial piece of metal might do the trick). But being an amateur, I would say consult the experts first.

Try Tony (LILRED66). He may have the caps you want.

Re: 65 C-10 paint?
Ima gonna tell ya. Finding four GOOD hubcaps will be hard to find, but if you watch often enough and want to pay enough there will be a set on ebay.
Ima also gonna tell ya the fawn trucks I have seen were very close to the interior fawn without the metal flake. |
