NEED HELP! leaky tranny cooler lines
Hi guys, I really need help. My truck is leaking a HUGE amount of ATF out of where the cooler line threads into the tranny. Is the cooler really needed all the time? Could I Remove the lines and thread a stopper bolt in there while i try to find new lines? Do they have to be the hardline style or can I get barbed fittings to put in there and then use rubber hoses and clamps? I need to know how to fix this quick and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Re: NEED HELP! leaky tranny cooler lines
If I remember right the cooling lines are not under a lot of pressure, so you could jusr get a new fitting and hard rubber line and it should work. Just not real sure about the pressure part. Getting old can't remember **** anymore.

Re: NEED HELP! leaky tranny cooler lines
I used rubber hoses on a 71 Chevy I had and they worked great. I've heard somewhere not to use fuel line...something like, it will not last long. maybe someone else can verify that.
Back when my Suburban had an automatic, I made up some hydraulic lines for it. I went to a place that specializes in hydraulic fittings and showed them the type I needed and then cut the hose, and crimped on the fittings at work.

Re: NEED HELP! leaky tranny cooler lines
I went to the local parts store and bought a straight replacement brake line and a $5.00 tubing bender and copied the bends from the old one......
