My 67 lwb has overload springs that come in from the back side and regular coils. I was planning on lowering it and I was wondering if you guys take them off or can you relocate them and still keep them?

Sorry I can't help you out with your question. But, if it turns out that you have to remove them, give a shout, I need a set--mine used to have some but is now missing the leaves only.

I Had The Same Set-up On My 67 Lwb. I Just Removed Them And Left Them Off. But I Don't Plan On Hauling Anything Requireing Overload Spring Either.
Hey Cowdoc, I Have Had My Overload Springs Sitting On A Pallet Along With Many Other Parts For Over A Year While Rebuilding My Truck. I Was Planning On Taking Them To The Local Swap Meet This Spring, But They Don't Have To Go.......

I was looking at mine when the bed was off and was wondering about using them after it was lowered. It looks like they can be moved to the top of the frame instead of coming off the bottom. I took them out when I put the springs in, but plan on trying to make them work now that it's lowered. I've had quite a bit of weight in the back since I've lowered it and it handled it nicely. I'm going to want to carry a lot more though if possible.

I'd be careful about putting them on top of the frame for a few reasons--

(1) a lot more stress on the bolt that holds 'em on,
(2) more stress on the mounting hole region of the spring (unless you use a big washer or reinforcing plate),
(3) the mounts have got 'ears' on them on the bottom side to prevent rotation of the spring leaf; I don't remember any on top,

But, I am certainly no engineer, and they might be overbuilt enough to be OK. Nice driveway collection, BTW!

Oh ya, I tried to turn blue, but I haven't got PayPal. Any other way to do it? I have learned enough here already to save at least the cost of membership.

Make sure you get the plates that mount using the U-Bolts to the trailing arms. This includes the the rubber button to avoid metal to metal wearing.
