Those tall valve covers may pose a problem for you without a body lift , I had to use shorter covers on mine. Sure is a nice looking Jimmy.

Re: Finally, going to 454 BBC!!!!!!! (pics)
Thanks for all the props fellas!!! I tried to do my homework before this all started. The Milodon oil pan was a life saver. I didn't want to have to move everything forward like RustyParts had too. Hey Critter, those headers are Hedman # 68516 Tight Tubes through Summit, They should clear the frame rail on the drivers side where others have had problems.
As far as firewall clearance, weeeelllllll I might touch on the pass. side. To close to tell with out test fitting first. I think the crankcase breather will have to go. I hate to beat-up my firewall, but I think that's gonna happen before I move tranny and motor forward, or even before I scrap my pretty valve covers. haha Gotta fly, I'll post some new pics this weekend. I HOPE. Joe |

Re: Finally, going to 454 BBC!!!!!!! (pics)
Hey Joe ~ Just a FYI, I had to Bang Bang on my driver's side firewall more than the pass side. The spot I had to dent in was just to the left of the clutchrod hole on the firewall. The pass side was just a little dent. Oh I do have a 3"bodylift too so...
Anyway good luck and keep us posted

Mine didn't hit the firewall but it hit the booster. It is a 2wd but I guess this would be the same.

Re: Finally, going to 454 BBC!!!!!!! (pics)
Well, I got it in there!!! It was definately ALOT tighter than I figured. RustyParts was right!! My valve covers were a pan in the butt. I took my original firewall and beat the livin S#%T out of it. Now I have to hook everything back up and wire in a electric fuel pump. Hope to have it runnin in a week or so. I'll try to get some pics soon.

Re: Finally, going to 454 BBC!!!!!!! (pics)
My son (orangeuavol) and I used the small block stands and mounts on his BB Blazer. With the covers we used we cut holes in the firewall and boxed them in. Did not interfer with anything on inside. Used stock exhaust manifolds which cleared stands and frame. HEI would not clear firewall so we took a point dist. and added a Pertonix system and a MSD cap that takes HEI style wires. Valve cover cleared booster easy.

Re: Finally, going to 454 BBC!!!!!!! (pics)
Wow!! JHow your sons blazer looks really nice!! I did everything about the same, but i used Edelbrock tall covers. These are causing my nightmare to begin, I used smallblock mounts and crossmember, Milodon oil pan plenty of room. I have a MSD Billet dist. fits close. I have Hedman block huggers, needed a little shave here and there. I haven't put the brake booster back on yet, looks like it could be a problem. Thanks for the input, I can use any advice, I'm definately NOT a master mechanic.
