Re: want to know
There is a procdure and there are torque specs, they are different for the inner and outer spindle nuts. Hopefully someone else can post up the specs and procedure...I'm at work right now.

Re: want to know
i put new bearing ,races in my rite front hub because i thought they were bad.but after i put it together, went for a ride still making same noise.it sounds like either something is rubbing or grinding noise, but it stops when i put on the brakes.and also it doen't make any kinda noise when going in reverse.also the hub is hot. not like the left side which is cool.HELP this is driving me crazy.don't know what else to do.thats why i'm asking the experts.i have a 88 burb.also when i put it together i tightened up the inner nut till hub wouldn't move then loosened till the hub would move a half a trun when you spun it.then the outer nut,i tightened up to 35-40 lbs of torque with my torque wrench.HELPPPPPPPPPPP

Re: want to know
According to the Chilton Manual I have,
Adjust the bearing by rotating the hub and tightening the inner adjusting nut to 50 ft/lbs, then loosening it and retightening to 35 ft/lbs. Next, back the nut off 3/8ths turn or less. Turn the nut to the nearest hole in the lockwasher. Install te outer locknut and torque to a minimum of 160-205 ft/lbs for 1981 and later 1/2ton and 3/4ton models. There should be .001-.010 in end play. I left out the specs for the 1980 models and the 1 tons. I'm still looking for the Haynes manual my friend and I use...I like that manual better. I think it may be at his house because he has a similar problem with his 76 K5 Blazer. The driver side wheel bearing failed and by the time he got it off the road it had welded itself. After some cutting and grinding he got that bearing off and replaced it. A few months later the replacement bearing ( it was a cheap made in china POS) failed so he replaced that one, but the hub still gets warms. I found a couple hubs in the wrecking yard and he's going to replace the hub on the blazer and install new bearings...one of these days.

Re: want to know
well problem is solved my hub is egg shaped from where the other owner[young kid] didn't take care of the bearing and ran it till egg shaped the hub.looked like he just greased the bearing and put it back in before i bought the burb.so i just ordered a hub today get it tommorrow [37 plus tax].thanks for ALL THE HELP GUYS this is why i love hanging out here.such good people and plenty of help.the races were spinning in the hub also, so that was my noise.plus it was rubbinig on the spindle,a little emory cloth will take care of that.
