The last one of these I have is from High School. Want a story? Yes? No? Here it is.

Me and a buddy had a hill that we would lay drag up as a contest. It was on the back entrance of a neighborhood - semi-secluded, no houses around etc.
We would go by at different various times to "compete". Mine were wide, his were skinny.

Well, I was king - he had a 4-cyl Ranger. Albeit his was a stick. But I could go full pull. One night he and I were out together and he wanted to ride along while I did it. Well, I did it different. I put in N at the bottom, gave it a good rev, dropped it in D and...



Broke the u-joints, dropped the drive shaft and rolled back down the hill to a parking backwards. Called dad to tow me home.
After fixing the the U-Joints, I had to rebuild the tranny, because? I busted the intermediate sprag gear apparently as well.

You'd think I learned my lesson. Nope.

Same buddy (bad influence). Talked me into another session. This time a strait burnout. Everything went fine - no broke parts. 294'. How do I know? The cops that caught us measured before they called my parents.

I haven't done it since.

i got a burnout story front last week i was working on my pick-up at the tech school that i attend well last wensday i was pulling out of the shop and looked in the door as i was turning out and seen 3 kids from my class giving me the "light em up signal" so i revved up the ole 283, put the muncie in 1st and dumped the clutch and laid the throttle too it (dual straight pipe rattling i left 50' of 11in. wide black marks ), bad thing is my instructor was within hearing distance and he wasn't to impressed, i don't have any pics of it cause i think he still mad about it

I think I may have the "could have been most expensive" one.....

A friend of mine that collects Camaros.....about 5 years ago, he found out about a true COPO 69 camaro in Columbus. He romanced the original owner of the car for the next 4 years, stopping to see him every couple months. The owner was a recluse who would only talk to him thru the closed window for the first couple years. Finally, he showed him the car.....COVERED in dust and junk in his garage.

Another year or so went by and he was finally able to make the deal with the guy. He and I talked and he wheeled and dealed to gather up the money. When he got the car, it not only included EVERY scrap of paper related to the car, but the original engine block as well! He had the dealer paperwork to prove that he had blown up the original engine a couple weeks into owning it, and Chevrolet replaced it under warranty.

Anyway, he was so excited the day he got it, he drove out to my house......I had some 6 or 8 teenagers at the house, so I took great care to explain to them that were witnessing a once in a lifetime find. A couple of the kids couldn't see it, because the car looked plain.

He asked about the burn out marks at the end of the driveway.......I told him, it was kind of a tradition thing.........he leaves and I him him get on it in the same spot. The kids came up right after and said "he wrecked the car!!!!" I said "That's not funny!!!" I went down to find the car, upright in my driveway......seems he launched and when he shifted to second, it wheelied, went right and rode the bank!!!!!

The Camaro had to be very close to rolling, but righted itself and went back onto the road..........banged up the fender a little and broke a headlight, but that was it..........I nearly cried and told him to get his butt home.....SLOWLY!!!!!!!

ive done my share of burnouts but with a pegleg it aint as fun and i dont have any nice stories like you guys do, im not sure if thats good or bad

Good story Orange. A guy at school and I used to do the same thing. I had my 83 ElCamino with a lousy 305, TH350C, and 3.08 peg-leg. His parents bought him a new V6, 5spd Mustang for his senior year. For some reason I was his arch rival for burnouts and speed stunts. We never got a chance to actually race or do side by side burnouts. There was a new subdivision they had developed off a back road about a mile from my house. It only had about two houses at the time (it's full now), but after you first turn on the road it drops a little then goes up a decent grade. We could lay some seriously long streaks on that grade. I took a buddy that lived a few houses down from me for proof and made a nice long trail (never measured it). He went with the other guy in the Mustang a couple days later. He never came close. We never got caught though.

The best part of the second story is this...
I was doing the burnout behind a closed down mall in a large empty parking lot. It was about 10pm or so, and nobody was around. The cops actually were the K-9 units. They were a few businesses down the road letting the dogs do their business and heard me, and came over to see what was up.

My last truck was a 91 454SS that could do amazing burnouts, I used to do big ones in front of my buddies house on a regular basis, one time when I saw him & some kids in the backyard, I stopped along the side road where they could clearly see me, & I just roasted the tires to where you couldn't even see the truck anymore, I talked to him later & he said he was having a birthday party for his 7 year old daughter & one of her little friends who watched me do the burnout yelled out "WHAT AN IDIOT!" He said nice job man, you can't even impress a 7 year old.

I pulled a burn out for my friends in auto last week after i brought my truck in they were all just waiting so on the way out of auto droped it down did a good size burn out next day came into auto teacher pulls me aside tells me he will make me clean it with a toothbrush and have the school cop give me a ticket next time i do it, i said "ok" the only reason he knew it was me because im the only kid with a truck that can accualy put rubber down i got a '67 swb with 350

Almost forgot about this one. About four years ago, we lived in a subdivision with alot of duplexes. One of the houses had a HUGE oak tree that shaded almost the entire raod during most of the day. One day in early Feburary, after we'd had a little snow and ice a few days earlier, the only snow or ice left on the roads were in shady areas. I was coming home for lunch and there was slick spot just wide enough to drive a tire through and about 2ft. long under the tree. I was only rolling about 10-15 mph, I pulled down in first gear, lined up my rear tire on the slick spot and hammered it. Right when the tires hit pavement and started squeeling, I looked to the right to see a teenage girl outside on a portable phone. I stayed in the throttle and layed a good 150ft. or so mark.

I go tickled thinking about the girl on the phone and how that conversation went from that point:
person on other line: "What in the world was that?"
Girl: " Just some stupid redneck spinning his tires!"

My 95 SS makes a good show, but doesn't leave any marks behind. Tires are too soft a compound, I guess.

I will say one thing. DO NOT pull a burnout at the window in a McDonalds drivethru. I found out the hard way that they dont like that sort of thing. (they had made me mad, I was a young punk, go figure
