My 1971 chevy custom/10 build thread
heres my project..ruff but ive definently seen worse rust..alil in my passenger side floorboard and the kick panel on that side..its needs rockers and the windsheild frame is rusted out up top but im gonna fix it to keep the original cab..i aint complaining i only gave 500 for it...ive got to rebuild or replace the engine tho cause its got a pretty hardcore knock that recently started but believe it or not its the numbers matching original engine and turbo 400..the bed floor is swiss cheese but the bed sides are in decent shape..when i bought it there was so much sand and dirt back there i actually had weeds growing in it lol but after i get the rust addressed im gonna paint it white with hugger orange stripes and the interior is also going orange and white..but this is pretty much what im starting with..

Judging by the glovebox sticker the PO had very good taste and passed on a solid truck to you.
![]() Steel or wood bedfloor?endgate looks pretty straight just surface rust on it?

Re: My 1971 chevy custom/10 build thread
actually i put that sticker on the glovebox day two of me owning it lol the gate is ok up top but the bottom is rotted out...it has a steel bed floor in it now but theres just a peice of plate steel laid down in the back for stability...theres quite a few holes in the rear floor...standing on it you can here the bed underneath cracking and crunching...im thinking about ripping it out and putting in a wood floor..havent decided if im gonna keep it a long bed or not..

Re: My 1971 chevy custom/10 build thread
lol thanks for the kind words...yea i made that shift knob believe it or not for my old 67 caddy hearse..im thinking about putting red leds in the eyes and make it were it flashes everytime you shift gears..just got to figure out the circutry...the cabs the worst part of the whole truck..needs complete rockers and a small patch done to the floor..also the windsheild frame needs some parts of the top replaced ..its pretty rusted out..i think im gonna keep it a longbed..you dont see many in these parts..yea i think im gonna jerk the bed floor today to see whats hiding underneath
