Cheyenne Short wide box
I have watched this forum for a long time to try and get a good idea about what I would need to pay for a good short wide box and could never get a good idea. I had bought a 1972 Cheyenne Super and (like a lot of guys) want to change the long bed into a short bed. I had heard about these parts and had sent a good friend to go and look at them. It is basically all the parts for a short Cheyenne except the cab. It has the bed and front clip you see in the pictures. The frame had been cleaned and then painted. All the bolt on suspension and parts have been powder coated. I also get four good doors and one extra fender. This is not one of those stories that it seems everybody else has about finding everything for $200. (LOL). I am told the floor of the bed is solid with only some surface rust. Now for the bad news. I had to pay $3000 to get everything. I figure just the savings in body work and rust repair should help recoup the cost. But of course the little woman is not too happy. Did I mess up here?

Re: Cheyenne Short wide box
sounds a bit expensive to me, ... but if you're happy with it and the seller was happy to let it go for that price, then it sounds like a good deal for everyone involved.

Re: Cheyenne Short wide box
Sounds a little steep to me. But body work isn't cheap! If it was worth it to you it was a good deal. Now find something to make the little woman happy! Few of them really understand the truck disease and how quickly it can take over. Fortunately mine is understanding. Mines short and wide and I have an extra air cab and short fleet bed in the back yard.

Sounds high, but if the frame and suspension is done, that makes it sould a little better. Sounds like it's time to get buildin'!

Re: Cheyenne Short wide box
I just hope for your sake the lower parts of the panels are in o.k. shape after sitting on the ground. Where did you find that stuff at?

Re: Cheyenne Short wide box
Powell72, I am assured the bed is fine. It is sitting on wooden blocks and not actually touching the ground. I got a lot of extra stuff with what is shown, some of which I don't even know. I did get 4 good doors and they are supposed to be the 1972 style. I got two really good extra fenders. I got a frame that is ready to go. I really did not want to start cutting a long frame to get to where I wanted. I also got all the set up for small block a/c. And again all the suspension that has already been powder coated. As soon as I get it here I should be able to bolt together most of the frame components. As far as location, it was not in Colorado. I have a friend who is an OTR driver and he found it. Maybe when I get done it will look something like your avatar. (LOL).

Re: Cheyenne Short wide box
With the frame done, and good body parts, assembly is cheap! Not a bad deal in California, don't know about anywhere else. I wish my SWB came unassembled, since the PO did so much gerry-riggin'
