I need a pump but how do you know if it a long water pump or short water pump? Excuse my ignorance but I'm just trying to find the right part and I'm new to these chevys. Is it just the bracket.
 I've got a 69 4wd Blazer I found a box on a newer K5 mid seventies but haven't got it fired up yet. Also what is different on the 2wd and 4wd's steering boxes? Thanks for the help.

a short pump will almost touch the timing chain cover where a long pump will have a noticable gap between the back of the pump and the timing cover.
the pitman arm is held on with a pinch bolt on 4wd boxes and a large nut on the sector shaft on 2wd boxes.
