fuel pump fitting?

On my 86 w/ 305, on the mechanical fuel pump outlet to carb. What size /thread is that? Have been having a heeluva time findind a fitting for it.
I tried some of those brass 3/8 from autoparts store, they will screw in, but could not find the 90 elbow I needed.
So I bought 3/8npt to -6an to run braided line, and it won't fit, fitting is too big.and it's not 1/4 either.too small.
Are the threads in the fuel pump different or what? I have been to every parts store in town, and can't get the right stuff.
I've got a little too much $ tied up in the rest of these an fittings/line/filter to turn back now.
thx for any help.

Re: fuel pump fitting?

Your not alone, I did the same thing. Just can't remember what I used to fix it? I finally just got behind the counter at the auto parts store until I found something. If I remember I'll holla back

Re: fuel pump fitting?

The Auto parts stores sell a 90 degree elbow that in mde to fit a standard fuel pump. It has a duoble flare fitting on the threaded side and a hose barb on the other. If you want one that does not use a hose, then they have that too. I use NAPA as my source.

I think this should do it. When I get it, I'll let you know if this is it. Russels page says for chevy fuel pumps 70 and later....

Re: fuel pump fitting?

That will do it. I was gonna say it's a 5/8"-18 inverted flare fitting, but you found it before I could tell ya.
