Dad and I just bought some parts for the 84.
Well we've needed a few things since we got the 84 c10 and wanted alot more lol.
As most of you know I recently put in a tube grille, which I've wanted forever. It's been missing the chrome molding around the passenger side headlight since we got it. I now have that in the mail should be here tomorrow or friday hopefully. The window regulator on the driver's side has been screwed up since we got it, really hard to roll up and down, so I ordered one today, from my local guy. it will be here on friday. While I was at it I asked if he sold the molded plastic dash covers, and he said yea he keeps them in stock. here's the real catcher though, he has them for LESS then anyone I've seen, cheapest I found online was $79.xx and you pay shipping which was at least $20+, so he said it would be $69.xx plus tax. I was like SAY WHAT????? I know where I'm buying mine from, just gotta make sure he can get it in blue, else I'll have to dye it to match. Anyone know the factory name for the 84 blue interior? midnight blue truck and interior is pretty close to it. I got pics if need be. Well the last thing we got was today, ordered some new wheels for her. Now we both would have loved to bought four cragar ss' for it like on my monte, but they were a bit out of the price range, plus my dad likes the chrome wagon/8 spoke wheels. We had a set on my 76 and they were ok, but used and kinda rusty. I seen a set on an old ford pickup and they were new and very nice looking wheels. SO we ordered 4 15x8's, 4 cragar blue label center caps, and gorilla lug install kit that comes with 16 chrome lugs, 4 chrome lock lugs, and 4 chrome valve stems. IMo not bad at all for $275. Soon as we get them in dad is going to go down and buy four new tires for it. Right now it has half worn out goodyear wranglers on the front, outlined raised white letters, and snow tires on back that are black wall. So doesn't look so great. Also has factory wheels, rings and centers now, but we plan to hang on to them for winter use. Yes I said winter use, but don't get upset, we rarely go out in snow, ice, or even rain really. Just so that the new wheels don't rust due to being too cold to go out and wax them. Plus if we do have to go out in the snow or bad weather we'll have snow tires ready to go lol. Anyways here's some links and pics, figured you guys might be interested in checking it out, we just can't leave anything alone for very long. it's like a curse, get something new, start changing it and making it personalized. Center caps... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku We figured thoose looked better then the plain chrome ones or the ones with us wheel stamped on them. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku Not a bad deal on thoose, I gave $32 for a set for my cragers and then another $10-20 for a set of 4 lock lugs with key, and $5 for 2 valve stems, so $10 for valves. Now for the good stuff lol, the wheels. I know some of you probably don't like them, but that's ok, IMO they are nice wheels for a little budget bling bling, or redneck bling-bling LOL. Don't get me wrong, I'd have a set of tt2's or cragar ss' in a heartbeat, just can't afford em right now. Plus it's dad's truck so what he says goes. basically what it costs for 4 wheels and tires, it costs the same four 4 cragar ss' let alone tt2's. I paid $265 for 4 tires brand new from a local dealer, and probably be the same for his truck, So that's like $550 roughly, I paid $500 for 4 cragars on my monte, and that was when they cost about $20 less per wheel or more. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku Hope you guys enjoyed my little blog or rant, whichever you might want to call it. I see you guys post about your new parts and it excites me thinking of buying parts and doing new stuff so I wanted to post about ours. I'll definately post pics when we get the new stuff put on the truck.

Re: Dad and I just bought some parts for the 84.
Well the regulator came in today and while I was there I picked up a dash cap, the molded plastic one. It was only in black, in stock and to get a blue one would cost $20 more and take he didn't know how long to get, so I got the black one.
Probably gonna paint it blue to match. if anyone knows the correct color for 84 please let me know. I have another thread posted just for that.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=247584 Also the center caps, and lug nut install kit should be here this evening, as of this morning they were out for delivery via ups, the wheels are in souty charleston, be here monday I guess. We ordered tires while we were out, dad wanted to go with 235/70-15's but I talked him into a wider tire, we are getting some 255/60-15's. I seen a set of 275/60's and MAN I LOVE THEM!! they were wide and I love fat tires. But they might have cost alot more so the 255's should be alright, gotta be wider then 235's heck alot of the 235's they had looked wider then what we got. They'll be in on tuesday, so hopefully tuesday we'll get them mounted and put on.

Re: Dad and I just bought some parts for the 84.
I was never a fan of any painted wheels for me it's chrome/polished or nothing lol.
My old man and I alays get into cars together cuz both of us go nuts thinking of new stuff to do to them or put on and then spend way too much money on them. I want to drop it next, still might but not sure.

Re: Dad and I just bought some parts for the 84.
Well the regulator got put in yesterday, ended up being the wrong one. The package said 77-91 on it up top, and below it had another sticker that said 77-80, and once we put it on the window crank is too short, it doesn't stick out past the door panel like the originals did it's recessed about 1/2 or so back in there. So gotta check on getting a new one tomorrow, this time the right one hopefully LOL.
Got the grille trim piece installed, painted behind the grille this time, Here's before.. AFTER.... Got the dash cap mounted yesterday also, and painted it today... before.. I know you can't tell much fomr theese old ones but she was cracked, 2 coming right in the center of the guages, edges of the speaker openings, and by the passenger side where the vent would be with an a/c truck, the grille was missing over there too, somebody broke it off. Maybe you can see something better in that 2nd pic if ya look past me LOL. Ok so now here's afters... MUCH BETTER!!! lol. Color might not match exactly but it's close enough for now, better then cracks. I'll probably end up redyeing everything in the truck to match later on. Hopefully I'll post some wheel pics tomorrow, and mounted pics tuesday or wednesday.

Re: Dad and I just bought some parts for the 84.
SEM.
I don't care much for it really, it didn't seem to cover the black at all on the first coat, I couldn't tell where I had sprayed, then after it started to setup after a minute or less it turned blue. I used a whole can on it. On the 86 we had I used some plastikote cheapo stuff and used less then half can on the dash. It has a pretty dull factory appearance to it also, some like it some don't. I don't much like it, I'd rather have it shiney, but it does suck when the light reflects it into the window. I went with SEm for more color selection, and they still didn't have the factory color(my local dealer's fault, not SEM) so it's close, just not exact. I've used alot of different brands of vinyl and fabric dye or flexible color coats like SEM, and NONE of them like to stick well on hard plastic so you have to use adhesive promoter, I used bulldog. It will stick to the hard plastic but if something scraps it lightly it'll come off, hopefully with using the bulldog that won't happen.
