2000 Chevy CD player problems
I've got a 2000 Chev 1500 Z71 with a factory CD player. It displays ERR when I put in a disc. Everything else works OK, cassette, radio etc. Any ideas? Is it junk or fixable, maybe just needs cleaning?

I assume that you tried multiple discs? Laser might need aligned and if that's the case then just get on Ebay and buy a new one.... usually OEM CD players are cheap...

A GM dealer can send it out for exchange for you but they usually run 350.00-380.00 and you can get a pretty nice A/M unit for that.

If its still under warranty, just take it in. Otherwise it's easier and cheaper to install a new unit yourself...

Re: 2000 Chevy CD player problems
It's definately not under warranty anymore. I tried multiple dics with the same result. I'll probably pull it out and see if there's anything obvious wrong, then just go aftermarket. Thanks for the replies.

aftermarket works... I got one that plays mp3's so know I can fit over 150 songs on one CD!

Re: 2000 Chevy CD player problems
I just bought a JVC deck for the motorhome, iPod plugs right in. Now I can have 1000+ songs. Think I'll get the same one for the truck.

Re: 2000 Chevy CD player problems
Too bad you're in Canada, I have one I pulled from a 2001 truck that works great and I'd sell it to you for less than an aftermarket deck.
MP3 capability is really nice though, it really cuts down on the amount of CD's you gotta carry with you. |
