Control Arms - HELP?!
I just removed the control arm shafts from my arms and have yet another "intelligent" question from a beginner. Are the holes in the control arms threaded for the caps or is that just a friction fit? If they are threaded, all 4 of my holes/caps look stripped out. Can someone enlighten me on this?
Thanks

Re: Control Arms - HELP?!
They are probably the originals and those are big rivets. They will need to be cut off. the new upper ball joint will be threaded.

Re: Control Arms - HELP?!
From what I've read those style control arm shaft have a tendency to strip out. I've even heard of new ones doing it.

Re: Control Arms - HELP?!
Sorry if I caused confusion. I have the ball joints removed, ground the rivets off. The problem I am referring to is the holes where the control arm shaft caps screw into.

Re: Control Arms - HELP?!
I just did mine about a month ago and I thought mine were stipped out also. They weren't. Just run them down snug with a 1/2" impact.

Re: Control Arms - HELP?!
The caps are threaded, inside and outside. The threads are not very sharply cut and almost looked rounded over. Even the new MOOG caps are the same way. They will thread back on. The trick is centering the shaft within the A arm while tightening the new caps back on.
