Decision Time for front disc conversion kit...
would like to hear from others who've already done this...
I'm converting my 64 C10 front suspension. All is apart, control arms, X-member, etc. going to get blasted this week so I'm shopping for the conversion kit. I've narrowed it down to two suppliers (so far), CPP & Early Classics. ECE has a kit for $759 that contains the following: Every Kit Comes Complete With Master Cylinder, Proportioning Valve, Brake Lines, Brake Hoses, Calipers, Pads, Rotors, Bearings, Seals, Dust Shields, Dust Caps, Castle Nuts, Slotted Washers, Banjo Bolts, and All necessary Hardware and Brackets. CPP's kit for $599 contains the following: Our upgrade kits use the more readily available, better designed 1973-87 ball joints and tie rod ends. Kits include the choice of stock height or 2-1/2" drop spindles, rotors, calipers, bearings, seals, dust caps, spindle nuts, banjo bolts, upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends and tie rod adjustment sleeves. Kits are available in 5-lug (5 on 5) ECE touts using Raybestos American made, etc. - (which I'm a FIRM believer in buying quality - that way you only buy it ONCE!!) and the 12" rotor & larger dia. bearings. BUT the CPP kit contains all the ball joints, tie rod ends & adj. sleeves as well. but doesn't spec rotor/bearing size. I'll be checking with both vendors for more details but wanted to get the 'real deal' feedback from all you guys that have already done this... Questions: Have you used either of these Kits? If you've used CPP - is it foreign (i.e. chinese steel)? Does CPP's "5 on 5" bolt pattern mean a 5" diameter pattern? I want to make the right decision here cuz I am planning on discs out back in the future as well and want to get the right bolt pattern. Looking for feed back on quality and completeness of the kits. I've heard good things about both vendors on the site, but again am concerned about quality. Thanks in advance for your help...

Re: Decision Time for front disc conversion kit...
I've had numerous excellent experiences with ECE and have heard bad things about CPP. Check them out on the review board and make your own decision as to who you want to deal with.

Re: Decision Time for front disc conversion kit...
I bought control arms off a '72 C-10 and then went to my local NAPA and purchased everything else (bearings, rotors, calipers, tie rods, ball joints, etc).
I used ECE drop spindles and I can attest that they are the cat's ass as far as quality. If i remember correctly, I was still less than $500 for everything. |

Re: Decision Time for front disc conversion kit...
Thanks guys - I appreciate the feedback.
Shane thanks - I'm pricing all the parts out as well, just buying the drops from ECE. Gonna cut my stock coils myself. I'll keep you posted.
