GVW 1 ton 4x4
Would the gvw for a 83 1 ton 4x4 be over 9000#? The tag on my door is gone.

Re: GVW 1 ton 4x4
If you by chance have a CUCV 5/4 ton then yes. In that case your 3rd digit is a "D". (9400 for M1028s and M1031s, but 8800 for M1008s) If 4th digit is G, 9000 or less. H is 9001 to 10,000. F is 7001-8000. This info can be found in the front pages of your Service Manual.

Re: GVW 1 ton 4x4
The GVWR for a retail market single rear wheel K30 pickup is 9,200 lbs; it is 10,000 lbs for the dually version. An 8,600 lb. version was also available, but only for the 1977 thru 1979 model years.
So, in your case the 9,200 lb rating applies. Ken Lewis |
