What did you get done? 09/23

I had a very busy weekend and got a lot things done. Unfortunately the cold meds are kicking in and I am to sleepy to type.

Well, the wife and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary today. The past year has completely flown by, and it was hard for both of us to realize that we made it through our first year.

Re: What did you get done? 09/23

Sat, I welded in 'home-made' patch panels for 3-corners of the steel floor that's going to be swapped to my 68.

Today, I started on mini-tubbing. I got one side cut, prepped, tacked, welded, & then initial grinding completed. The Cowboy's game started so I'll have to do the hammer/dolly work this week & then start all over again on the other side.

Re: What did you get done? 09/23

Got my new (to me) sport mirrors mounted. I took a few pics and wrote it up on my progress topic here. There are more pictures in my gallery in my signature.

I also got my new (actually new, not just to me) Edelbrock 1405 carb installed and tuned thanks to my mechanic buddy. Passed emissions testing with flying colors. Truck runs like a beast now.

Re: What did you get done? 09/23

Pulled the vinyl flooring, seats and seat belts out of the Crew Cab and started cleaning everything up. Got the floorboards, seats and seatbelts cleaned up. Should be getting some durabak liner for it this week to recover the flooing where the paint is coming up from an apparent spill.

Re: What did you get done? 09/23

I went and got my truck out of storage for the first time in a few months. I hit the junk yards and found a 70 something Cheyane 30 1 ton that I was able to get the 1.25" front sway bar off for $20! Got it home cleaned it, primed it and then painted it. It looks great on the truck and that means that my front end is finally done!!

I fought some more with tuning the engine. I am definately a rookie with this! Any help tuning the rochester and timing would be appreciated! lol... It is bogging and popping at WOT. There is no more smog stuff, new intake, air cleaner assy, headers and dual exhaust. I think that I may have the timming too far advanced. It may be the carb being too rich/lean. I did see a write up some time ago about disabling the knock/retard capabilities of the box that is located in the cab and plugs into the distributer. I can't seem to find where I saw that now. I may need to re-curve the distributer. I don't know at this point, I'm lost.....HELP...!!!

I did have a success sanding the replacement fender, door and hood. I will post up some progress pics tonight if I remember to take home my camera from work today. I should hopefully have it rattle canned by the end of the week. At least the truck won't be 4 colors. I will hopefully be able to get the body and paint work done right some day. I need to do some kick panels and firewall repairs first.

I think the write up on the distributor you are looking for is at www.73-87.com . I may be able to help you try to get it tuned one evening this week. Is it still in the same storage place? I can swing by one evening after work if you would like.

Re: What did you get done? 09/23

Well Saturday I went into work from 6am till noon, all of it was O.T. Then after that I went and picked up the engine for my project build for 150$. Mounted it on my frame temporarily till I got my engine stand finished ( had to put some wheels on it).

Sun I got my motor back off the frame and onto the motor stand, then started cleaning the frame in preparation of the POR-15 and paint.

Re: What did you get done? 09/23

Been working on doing a motor swap in the '88 that I sold and got back now. Pulled the old motor out and in the process of swapping all the sensors and intake and everything else to the older carbed 350 SB I got. Painted the engine compartment and got some rubberized undercoating on it. Got all new gaskets and new clutch for the tranny. Now to just get it all finished up and put away. Oh ya I also got sick this weekend as well.
