Section or no?
Gettin ready to bag the front with 2.5 drop spindles, ART arms, RE6 Slam bags and Grant Kustoms plates & cups and plan on running 20's with a decent size tire..First off..How much can I cut off the cups to get it lower but still be ok?..Ive seen some posts about it but never really saw a direct answer. Secondly, is it a good idea to go ahead and section the cross member?..Im assuming after I get the front bagged ill still have like 3" of clearance right?..And please no Dropmember recommendations, Unless your buying

I would get 3" spindles and ART arms. You can get the cool ride kit from ART that comes with your upper plates, control arms, shocks and air springs.
If you end up buying everything part by part. These are the parts I would get: belltech 3" spindles, ART upper and lower arms, ***************** upper plates, Stock monroe shocks, Slam RE7 bags. That is the setup that I am running up front on my 86. the washers for the control arms will be about 1/4" off the ground on a 215/75R15 tires. Let me know if you want some pictures of my setup. ART arms don't need cups- the bag bolts directly to the arm. Might as well section the crossmember while you're in there, but read up on it- there is a lot of work involved. I was gonna do it- actually have the extra crossmember sitting here- just decided if I was goin' to all that trouble, I might as well do the Dropmember. Sectioning is a viable option if you're broke(like me) and don't have anything to sell. That's how I funded mine- sold off a bunch of parts I had layin' around...

Red- Sounds like a good setup youve got goin on and thanks for the reccommendations, But ive already ordered this stuff and have it starin me in the face, lol...
Gringo- With the setup Id be running do you think its an absolute must? Or can I just roll without one..Im trying to get this thing out of my garage and actually drive it, I cant stress my impatience enough with this whole build |

what you can do is just use an upper cup...cut out the top of the crossmember where the top plate would bolt in.. i cut mine out and am using two cups. lower cut about an inch high and top aboutmaybe 3.. with 2 1/2 spindles and im laying crossmember

I have a chopped crossmember and would do it on any other truck that I bagged. It's a lot of work but it really gets you down in the weeds, and the cost is low.
