got a set of used 2/4 coils for my 69 swb stepside. installed the rears tonight and only got around a 2" drop. question: is there a correct direction to install the rears?
sooooo, is the tighter coil length on the torsion bar side, or the frame side. any pics? need help. thanks guys! |

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
The pigtails should be the same on both ends of the spring. Were you able to bolt both ends of the spring in?

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
need to find out (if possible) the make of the springs.
the pigtails fit inside the spring clamp plate completely, so no issues there. it's buttoned up and setting on the floor, but seems a bit high still. try to get pics tonight. |

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
40 year old springs tend to sag so the amt of drop wont be exact

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
cdowns,
the springs I put on were practically brand new. before I installed these spring, I measured to the top of the rear fender opening. I was exactly were LMC said I should be, 34". now it's 32" with the springs on. |

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
Those say Belltech 5354 which according to their site is a 4" rear coil spring. Another thing to consider is the person you bought them from may have accidently ordered 2" rear drop springs.

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
67 c-30, sorry about that. In my haste I thought YOU were asking what brand of springs they were in the pic. I misread your post!

Re: Question about Drop Spring Installation......
I put some 2" drop springs from LMC on my son's '67 and got almost zero drop from stock. But at least the ride is extremely harsh. I just got done putting an ECE 2.5/4 drop kit on the wife's '63 and got almost 3.5 inches of drop in the rear, and the ride is great.
