Question Front and Rear Disc Brakes

I'm looking for a brake upgrade for my '70 Chevy. It currently has stock, non adjusting drums front and rear. Are disk brakes on the rear necessary? I don't want to change the ride height with drop spindles, so what companies would you suggest getting the kit from? I have been looking at SSBC because of the completeness of their kit (including master cylinder and booster). I think LMC also sells a kit. Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: Front and Rear Disc Brakes

Rear disc aren't NECESSARY... or I'd have been in a ditch a long time ago!

If you are keeping the stock height and are wanting 5 lug wheels I would find the setup from a 71-72 truck (or 73-84) and swap it out. It has been done a ton of times. If you want to stay 6 lug you'll have to go aftermarket.

Good luck, Rg

I want to keep the 6 lug wheels I currently have on the truck, so aftermarket it is.
