s10 frame swap
Do you guys remember the pics floating around of the flat black ad truck put on a 86 caprice frame? well I got so excited I went and bought a 87 caprice to due the same... guess what? no worky just fine! The frame is to long also to wide if you look at the pics of that swap he had to run the frame rails through the bottom of the cab. moral of the story... research! I have always been one to jump in before asking how deep is the water? anyway, new direction for my 1950 s10 frame swap seems to be the best option for me, so here we go! lucky for me I was able to swap my caprice even for a 82 long bed single cab s10 with ps,pb,tilt,cruise..so i think I'm going to buy the s10 kit from ad-engineering. After Christmas of course. wish me luck, pics to come once I get started.

Re: s10 frame swap
I got a buddy who can set you up with a really nice kit. It is not the AD kit but one that is pretty neat in how it mounts. I am going to send him alink to this afte I send this. I think after you "research this" you will really like it.

Re: s10 frame swap
allright guys i 've got the truck off the frame and into the garage. I was ready to start striping the s-10 but i came accross a motorhome with 454 and turbo 400 running with 32000 original miles. so i stipped it down to the frame and am wondering if i should use this or my fastburn smallblock? hey what was the other company that made s-10 frame swap kits other than ad? ps no one was hurt in the stripping of this motorhome.

Re: s10 frame swap
its 117.9" for the std cab long box(which is what you need). Using other models is possible but...harder. EZ chassis swaps, http://www.e-zchassisswaps.com/
No offense to anyone but i like how the AD kit mounts rather than the EZ kit. The AD kit uses the front factory mounting holes(on the 1st series, rear you have to drill) and later models all factory holes are used, rather than the EZ kit where its just recangular tubing. Correct me if im wrong but thats how i understood it. Last edited by Lrall; 02-07-2008 at 08:18 AM. |

http://www.ad-engineering.com/FAQs.html
Many FAQs here, i personally like the AD kit, it would NOT be hard to make your own, just hard to find where to mount, I might do another one for myself and would probably BD it a bit for looks. |

Re: s10 frame swap
heres the blue prints for the cab mounts for the S10 swap. I got them from another member on this site. I am sure if you search hard enough you'll come up with it.

Re: s10 frame swap
i have just built my mounts using this design only i used square tube so i did not have to pay someone to bend it. it works well. the front cab mounts goes two inches in front of the oval hole in the s10 frame/ that is thanks to the designer of the mounts and it is correct to center up the fenders. i believe the thread is called "yet another s10 swap" good pictures and a lot cheaper than $1100.00. i believe i am into mine for $25.00 from local scrap yard.
