Junkyard Pics today

There's a place just down the road that has acres of junked equipment and they started cleaning up because the EPA is on their case. They pulled these three duallies out of the weeds and were getting ready to cut them up. These were the old man's work trucks. I'd say he got his money's worth, they're pretty trashed.

I scored this rear seat and side glass from an '85. My foam is toast and this one looks identical to a front seat except the brackets which I won't need. My windows are also scratched. I think this is a pretty good score considering new foam cost what like $250?

They also had this 8-lug longbed stepside:

The guy's Lab got hit while I was there and was probably going to be put down so I couldn't settle up. Bad deal. I'll go back tomorrow, but he probably won't take much if anything. I think the foam is a good score considering the cost of new seat foam at $250 plus shipping. Should I go back and get the rear slider, is that worth anything?

Hopefully you guys like junyard pics as much as I do...

Re: Junkyard Pics today

$1000 for a Dana 60 front???? How do I identify one, is it just assumed on the 1-ton 4wd? I'll be going back tomorrow, and the slider is on the list too.

They are not worth that. Maybe purchasing and shipped to the other side of the world. MAYBE.

Re: Junkyard Pics today

The inside of the stepper looks like this, I think it's pretty much a gonner:

DirtyLarry, the white crew and stepside both have 1-ton 4wd front axles. I think I'm gonna try to do a little bartering with this guy and see what he'll do if I can bring him a buyer for the axles. He has three 60-100 gallon compressors he pulled from a plant and he set aside an 80 gallon with a single phase motor for me, I'll try and get that free. I'd be happy if he makes some money because after all it's his crap and his dog either got put to sleep last night or will be undergoing expensive surgery. He's gonna need the dough if that's the case.
Morgsie, I did a little checking and these axles are going for 800-1200 unrestored and up to 2800 all done.

Check ebay,craigslist,pirate4x4,etc.They sell for upwards of $1000 every day of the week.Sometimes you can get them for less if you search, and dually styles usually go for less than the SRW (single rear wheel style) but they are still expensive.

Re: Junkyard Pics today

Well considering I read pirate4x4 on daily basis, I STILL don't believe you. For $1000 you should be able to get the dana60 front + the matching 14 bolt rear.

Re: Junkyard Pics today

They were found on one ton 4wds.Dually,or single rear wheel. Here is a pic of one to ID it.It won't be as round as the 10 bolts that would be on the 1/2 or 3/4 tons.It will only have 3 u bolts-That's the way to tell

Re: Junkyard Pics today

The Dana 60 front will have a 60F casting to the lower right of the cover. I agree grab any parts that are good like radio knobs, window cranks, cab lights, glovebox doors, etc.

I don’t see any Dana 60 front axles

The trucks all look like 2wd's to me.

Re: Junkyard Pics today

if the long stepper bed is in fairly good condition, me thinks tis worth saving too - from what I've seen those ain't too common at all, so it will make for a cool mod for a regular longbed truck.

I was thinking the same thing... particularly if its a wood floor that could be restored to look real nice

Re: Junkyard Pics today

If he can pick them up for a few hundred he can sell them reasonably priced and still make money.Location makes pricing different but they are still around 1k for SRW Dana 60 on average. The dually style usually are a few hundred less.BTW,there is several people on the board with Ford Dana 60s under their Chevy trucks.Especially if doing a SFA swap on their 88+ and want to use their stock transfer case.VTBlazer has a h.p. 60 under his Gen 1 K5 too.Chevy dana 60s have sold on here for $1200.Maybe they are cheaper up there? I don't know.I wish they were cheap here,I could use one or two for my 4wds

Thanks for the reported post guys. Lets hope that this thread can get back on subject again...

I'd grab the bed and bed mounts/supports off the longbed stepside. It's rare and I think they are pretty cool.
