Thanks, Larry. I've been here for all of that. Made me think of friends that are no longer here. But like has been said, "getting old ain't for sissies"!

Re: This is for Barn 9
I'm only 34 and I remember a bunch of this stuff...of course I grew up on a farm where we had a party line telephone (had to share a phone with other families in the area).
Drive-ins were great. Once in a blue moon my dad would take me to the drive-in in his '67 chevy pickup, and we'd stop by Colonel Sander's Kentucky Fried Chicken and get a bucket of chicken to split between us. Then we'd watch Steve McQueen or John Wayne films. That drive-in has been gone for ages, and you'd be lucky to get a single decent piece of chicken in a bucket from KFC. I was just telling someone the other day about how my dad used to pitch me the keys to the pickup (when I was 8) and tell me to drive to the feed store to get some grain or chicken feed. We used to ride our bikes everywhere (to baseball practice). There weren't any "soccer moms". I could spend all night talking about what's changed - even since 1973.

Re: This is for Barn 9
Thanks for the link Larry. I'm 63 and I remember almost all those things. Alot of things have gotten better but a lot of things haven't.

Re: This is for Barn 9
I remember some of it at 40.
In Brady they still had a school with those escape tubes into the 80's. We used to wear ourselves out climbing up the slide just to slide back down. |
